KVIC & ARMY HOLD HANDS FOR PM’s “SWEET KRANTI” | KNO

Starts Bee-keeping training at Border District Kupwara

Srinagar 27 March 2018 (KNO) :  In a bid to promote and popularize 'bee-keeping' as a self-employment tool Khadi & Village Industries Commission ( KVIC) holding hands with Indian Army has started mission for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “SWEET KRANTI”.

As a part of PM’s “SWEET KRANTI” KVIC in association with Indian Army’s OP SADBHAVNA today inaugurated Training capsule of seven  days to unemployed youths of Drugmulla, Kupwara. About one hundred volunteers of rural areas of Drugmulla  have registered themselves to undergo training which will be conducted with effect from 28 March 2018 at Chailpatti village Panchayat Bhavan Kupwara. After training the shortlisted individuals will be given honeybee colonies which will help them to earn their livelihood.

During initial stages the  experts of KVIC  will regularly provide guidance and monitor the maintenance of honeybee colonies.  On the Occasion Dr Hina Shafi Bhat ,Chairperson , North Zone , KVIC, Colonel Vikas  Verma , Officiating   Commander , Thunderbolt  Brigade, Anil Sharma, Asstt. Director/Principal PMTC, KVIC, Lieutenant Colonel Nitesh Kumar, Major Anurag Upadhyay, Local Sarpanchs and other village head were also present. Addressing the programme Dr. Hina said that Always on the lookout for innovative ideas to change the face of the nation, Prime Minister, Shri narendra Modi recently said that along with “Shwet Kranti” there is also need to launched “Sweet Kranti”. The PM Vision is to make India a world leader in the production of honey and bee wax and the convince the farmers to increase crop production through pollination. 

Recently Hon’ble President Shri Ramnath Kovind, not only spent good time in the apiary to understood the process of honey production which was explained to him by the KVIC Chairman Shri V.K. Saxena , but he also distributed honey bottles to the students of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Vidyalaya situated in the Rastrapati Bhawan. She also explained the nutrition value of Honey and its impact building “Swasth Bharat” bees in our life and said that bees are fine example of collective discipline. In the meantime Colonel Vikas  Verma , Officiating   Commander , Thunderbolt  Brigade interacted with the trainees and assured full support and help from Army.

He Said Army was and will be taken these kind of initiatives for the welfare of the local population. Before this , Principal/Assistant Director, Incharge Kashmir Shri Anil Kumar Sharma said "we are taking ahead the objective of Prime Minister to make the sweet nectar available to each and every family for their daily consumption. Since honey helps boosting immunity and purifies blood we are distributing honey to the school children for promoting good health. He gave detailed presentation about the training programme. Besides, youth of the area who are taking part in the training programme appreciated the efforts of Army.

One of the trainee said that for getting training on Bee-Keeping locals would have to travel around 100 Kms from their area but the initiative taken by the Army with the association of KVIC is highly appreciable. We will take part in this training programme and make our livelihood with own hands.
